EnhanceMovie > Filters > Deinterlace

The Deinterlace filter removes interlace effects in videos.

Many digital camcorders divide each frame into a set of even and odd horizontal rows - even rows are recorded first, and then odd rows. So, each frame you see consists of two consecutive pictures. This mixing is called interlacing, and it enables video compression without using digital compression methods, thus preserving optimum image quality.

But if you record a fast-moving object such as a sports match, race, pets, or children, the image may be in different places for the "even" and "odd" pictures, creating a "striped" picture. The Deinterlace filter transforms the mixed frames into normal video frames and removes the interlaced horizontal rows.
