Blackmagic Design has officially released DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4, delivering major enhancements and features across editing, color grading, visual effects, and audio post-production workflows.

Highlighting this update is the long-awaited native support for Apple ProRes encoding on Windows and Linux platforms, significantly easing cross-platform collaboration and content delivery.

One of the standout features in version 19.1.4 is the ability for Windows and Linux users to natively encode Apple ProRes, addressing a major limitation editors faced when working with professional-grade codecs.

Previously reliant on third-party tools or complicated workarounds, editors can now seamlessly export projects in ProRes directly from DaVinci Resolve, simplifying post-production workflows for film, broadcast, and digital content creators.

Editing professionals will also appreciate improvements in project interchange and timeline management. The update resolves prior issues affecting large embedded AAF timelines, enhancing Resolve’s interoperability with other editing suites such as Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere.

Additionally, issues related to decoding certain broadcast transport stream clips (MXF/TS formats) have been fixed, ensuring more reliable media playback and smoother editing experiences.

Colorists have reason to celebrate with expanded support for new camera formats and color grading workflows. DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 integrates the Blackmagic RAW SDK 4.5, making it fully compatible with footage from Blackmagic’s latest high-resolution cameras, such as the URSA Cine 17K 65 digital film camera. The update also introduces native support for Samsung Log LUTs, facilitating accurate color correction workflows for footage captured using Samsung devices.

Furthermore, critical corrections have been made for camera-specific issues. Canon RAW footage now correctly loads with appropriate default ISO settings, and ARRI RAW files no longer suffer from unintended center-cropping issues, significantly streamlining workflows and improving accuracy in professional grading environments.

In the audio domain, DaVinci Resolve’s Fairlight audio page receives key fixes aimed at professional audio post-production. Notably, audio stuttering issues encountered during tape recording sessions in interlaced video projects have been resolved. This ensures broadcast users experience stable, uninterrupted recording sessions.

Additionally, importing large Dolby audio files now functions without the previously experienced playback delays, greatly enhancing Fairlight’s reliability when handling complex audio projects, including immersive formats such as Dolby Atmos.

While Fusion VFX doesn't receive new features explicitly in this update, it benefits from general stability and performance enhancements. Blackmagic’s ongoing improvements in GPU acceleration and memory management help complex visual effects compositions to render smoothly, reducing crashes and improving overall workflow efficiency.

DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 is now available as a free update for existing DaVinci Resolve users, accessible through Blackmagic Design’s official support page.
