In a contest of AI integration and cross-platform innovations between Adobe® Premiere® Pro vs. Sony VEGAS, Premiere® Pro is the clear winner. At least, it is for now.
Adobe is constantly adding new, powerful AI features to Premiere® Pro. In April 2025, for example, it announced Generative Extend, which can automatically and instantly expand video and audio clips. Adobe also announced Media Intelligence, an AI-powered search function that can help editors locate specific clips within terabytes of stored footage in just a few seconds.
We’ve already discussed the industry-leading cross-platform integration featured in Premiere® Pro. It’s worth noting that you’ll need to subscribe to Adobe® Creative Cloud® as a whole to really take advantage of this feature. But if you do, you’ll be able to seamlessly combine the abilities of Adobe’s other apps, like Photoshop® and Audition®, with Premiere® Pro.
Adobe also has a feature called Spectrum 2, which aims to make all of its tools more intuitive across different platforms, from web to mobile and beyond.
We’ve sung Adobe’s praises here, but that doesn’t mean VEGAS Pro is lacking. Indeed, MAGIX has integrated several powerful AI tools within VEGAS Pro in recent years. The AI Assistant, for example, can help you kickstart your editing project. Other tools aim to make the editing process simpler and more efficient. You can convert speech to text and vice versa, apply color effects, upscale video, change styles, and much more, all in a few clicks.
Considering the rising importance of video content, you likely won’t be surprised to hear that experts predict the video editing software market will experience strong growth over the next decade. It’s currently worth over $3 billion. With an expected annual growth rate of around 6%, the market is set to approach $5 billion by the end of the decade.
